Coach Eric Mattson joins the Upper Iowa University football staff after coaching at St. Cloud State University as a Graduate Assistant. Mattson will coach the linebackers for the football team and will also work along side Patrick Morris as the Co-Director of Athletic Performance.

While at St. Cloud State, 2004-2006, Mattson coached the linebackers and was also the strength and conditioning coach. From 1999-2003, Mattson coached at Gustavus Adolphus College as the linebackers coach and strength and conditioning coach. In 1999, Coach Mattson was on the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff.

Eric Mattson was a 3-year letter winner playing inside linebacker for Gustavus Adolphus College from 1995-1998. He received his BA in Health Fitness in June of 1999 from Gustavus Adolphus College and his MA in Sports Management in July of 2007 from St. Cloud State University.

Eric Mattson and his wife Tracy reside in Oelwein, Iowa with their daughter Casandra.
