Upper Iowa Football Recruit Tally Reaches Thirty-Three Commitments Upper Iowa is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. UIU is coming off its second season in the Northern Sun Conference, finishing in a tie for 8th in the league (2-7) and compiling a 3-8 overall record. The Peacocks return two of their four NSIC All-Conference performers including cornerback Dominique Jackson (2nd Team) and offensive lineman Jerad Jandrain (Honorable Mention) 2008 campaign. (MORE)
Senior Tailback Collects Another Post-Season Award
Upper Iowa Athletics Department Honors 169 Student-Athletes The Athletics Department of Upper Iowa University recognized 169 student-athletes who earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll between games of the Winona State-Upper Iowa basketball doubleheader Saturday night. The honored group includes student-athletes, team managers, student assistant coaches, and student athletic trainers. This year's 169 honorees are a new record for total student-athletes honored at Upper Iowa. (MORE) Three Peacocks to Compete in 2007 All American Bowl Three seniors on the UIU football team were selected to compete in the 2007 All American Bowl. T.C. Hicks, Ryan Hudgins, and Dwayne Croker will take the field once again at the H.H.H Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The three seniors played their final game for the Peacocks versus Bemidji State in the Metrodome just over a month ago. The game will be played this Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7:35 p.m. The All American Bowl, in its 13th year, is designed to bring together the best of the nations top Division II and III college all stars and the top free agent semi-pro players on the same field. (MORE) Four Peacocks Earn NSIC All-Conference Honors The Northern Sun Conference has handed out their Football All-Conference Awards and four Peacocks have earned the honor. T.C. Hicks (SR / Immokalee, FL) was named to the First Team Offense as a Running Back. Dominique Jackson (SO / Riviera Beach, FL) was named to the Second Team Defense as a Cornerback. Two Peacocks were named to the Honorable Mention Team. They were Jerad Jandrain (JR / De Pere, WI) as an Offensive Lineman and Dwayne Croker (SR / Immokalee, FL) as a Wide Receiver. (MORE) Peacocks Lose Final Game in Metrodome Classic The Peacock football team traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota for their final game of the 2007 season. Upper Iowa met the Beavers of Bemidji State in the NSIC/Merchants Bank Metrodome Football Classic. Upper Iowa's offense was strong early and staked the Peacocks to an eleven point lead early in the second quarter. Unfortunately for the Peacocks, the Beavers outscored the UIU 46-7 over the remainder of the game. Those Peacock fans that just look at the score will not now how close this game really was before the BSU ran away and won 56-28. (MORE) Wolves Ambush Peacocks in Aberdeen The Upper Iowa football team didn't see it coming. On Saturday they traveled to Aberdeen, South Dakota for what figured to be a close game judging by how the teams have played in the Northern Sun this season. But the game was anything but close. The Wolves of Northern State scored a touchdown on their first eight possessions including all seven possessions in the first half. By the time the Peacock defense got their first stop of the game on an interception, the score was 55-21. Upper Iowa scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but lost the NSIC match up 55-35. The Peacocks record is now 3-7 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC, while the Wolves improved to 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference. (MORE) U-Mary Steals Victory on Senior Day at Upper Iowa The University of Mary came to Fayette, Iowa on Saturday looking to extend their five-game winning streak. The Peacocks of Upper Iowa University had different ideas on Senior Day. UIU honored 13 seniors before the game. U-Mary took a 10-0 lead into halftime, but Upper Iowa closed the gap in the third quarter on a Jay Lehman-Allen Conrad 16-yard hook up and trailed by just three heading into the fourth quarter, 10-7. The Marauders added a field goal early in the quarter, but Upper Iowa stormed into the lead thanks to a 46-yard run by T.C. Hicks. Upper Iowa converted on first and goal from the two-yard line after U-Mary was called for pass interference on a fake field goal. Kyle Hosch pushed the ball into the endzone for the home team and the extra point gave the Peacocks a 14-13 lead with 11:46 to play. U-Mary scored a touchdown on a 7-yard pass from Blair Sandy to Erik Kruse with 8:09 to play that proved to be the winning score and put the visitors ahead for good at 19-14. (MORE) Concordia Comes From Behind to Defeat Upper Iowa St. Paul, Minnesota was the latest stop for the Peacock football road show that has been away from home three of the last four weeks. Upper Iowa took the field to face the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul. The two teams entered the game looking to climb in the NSIC standings with a midseason victory. Concordia pushed out to a 10-3 lead at halftime, but the Peacocks scored on their first two possessions of the third quarter to take a 17-10 lead. Concordia put ten points on the board in the fourth quarter including the go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes to play to take the victory 20-17 and hand the Peacocks another heartbreaking loss.
