Werstein played soccer at the University of Northern Iowa for four years (2003-2006), as well as ran track at UNI for 1 year (2006-2007). She is currently in her first year as the head girls' soccer coach Union HS in LaPorte, Iowa.

Werstein has a USA Weightlifting Certification and is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS Certification). She maintains a National "D" Coaching License for soccer and has coached in the XL Sports Acceleration Program (3 years). The XL Sports Acceleration Program is a speed/agility/conditioning program for junior high, high school, and college athletes. Werstein has also coached at the UNI Soccer Camps over the past three summers.

Werstein's main duties will revolve around strength & conditiong of the soccer teams as well as working with the Peacock soccer camps. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Exercise Science at UNI.
