Peacocks Announce 2008 Commitments
Upper Iowa Athletics Department Honors 169 Student-Athletes
Peacock Soccer Teams Earn NSCAA Academic Recognition Both the women's and men's soccer teams at Upper Iowa University have earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Team Academic Award for the 2006-07 academic year. The honor comes after both programs posted a team grade point average at or above 3.0 last school year. The women earned the honor thanks to their 3.09 GPA during the 2006-07 academic year, while the men received the honor after registering a 3.22 GPA last year. (MORE) Peacocks Force Overtime, but Fall to Rangers on Senior Day The Peacocks took the field for their final match of the 2007 season on Sunday afternoon. Upper Iowa played host to the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside on Senior Day in Fayette. The team honored the four seniors; Sultan Karim, Ken Andersen, Steve Fellhauer, and Chris Pacheco, before the game. (MORE) Saints Rally with Three in the Second Half The Peacock men's soccer team played host to Ashford University on Wednesday afternoon at Pattison Field. Upper Iowa struck first and took a one goal lead into halftime, but Ashford scored two quick goals in the second half to reclaim the lead. The Peacocks tied it only to have their hearts broken in another one goal loss as the Saints put one in the back of the net with just over five minutes to play. The loss dropped Upper Iowa's overall record to 4-13 and improved Ashford's record to 8-7-1. (MORE) Peacocks Claim Shutout Victory at Viterbo The Peacock men's soccer team traveled to LaCrosse, Wisconsin on Wednesday to take the field against the V-Hawks of Viterbo University. The teams entered the game having both only notched three marks in the win column, but Upper Iowa proved to want number four more. The visitors blanked the home team 4-0 and improved their record to 4-10. (MORE) Peacocks Lose Two Close Battles The Peacocks hosted the Panthers of York College and the Marauders of the University of Mary in two matches this past weekend. Upper Iowa lost both matches 2-1, but played very well at times as a team and received some good defense from the back line and goaltending from freshman Andy Youde. The losses dropped UIU's record to 3-10 overall. (MORE) Statesmen Defeat Peacocks The Peacock men's soccer team ventured south to Oskaloosa, Iowa to battle the Statesmen of William Penn. The Peacocks played tough through much of the first half, but came up empty in the second half as they fell to the Statesmen 4-1. (MORE) Peacocks Drop Home Match to Vikings Upper Iowa's men's soccer team hosted Dana College a week after coming off their best performance of the year versus Robert Morris (3-0 win). The Peacocks scored in the third minute of the game, but the Vikings scored four goals over the remainder of the game and pulled away for the 4-1 road victory. (MORE) |
