CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Session One of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships began this afternoon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Each of the 160 national qualifiers wrestled once in session one. The day began as a race to two wins for each wrestler as they look to reach all-american status. After the first session, 80 of the student-athletes found themselves one win away, while 80 others need to rally in session two to claim their place on the mats tomorrow. Minnesota State University, Mankato took seven of their eight matches in dominating fashion leading the pack with 15.5 points. Western State followed closely as they racked up 15 points with seven victories. Nebraska-Omaha is currently third with 11.5 points thanks to six wins in nine chances. Nebraska-Kearney put up 11 points in their seven wins and Adams State rounded out the top five with six wins and 10 points. The Championships host, Upper Iowa, scored 4 points on three victories in their six matches to end session one tied with two other schools for 9th place. Session Two will open with the Grand March at 5:30 featuring the qualified student-athletes and coaches from all 37 institutions represented. Session Two's action will restart on the mats at 6 p.m. this evening.

Each of the 160 national qualifiers wrestled with the opportunity to become All-Americans. The day began as a race to two wins for each wrestler and by the end of the session, 80 of the national qualifiers passed through the "All-American" round with flying colors, while the other half of the field's run at the Championships ended tonight. Minnesota State University, Mankato continues to lead the group with 66.5 points and has five All-Americans. In second place is Nebraska-Kearney with four All-Americans and 57.5 points. Pitt Johnstown is currently third with 51 points and has earned five spots on the mat in session three. Nebraska-Omaha scored 49.5 points and will have three wrestle as All-Americans and Western State rounds out the top five with 42 points and two All-Americans. The Championships host, Upper Iowa, scored 22 points and earned two All-American spots to finish session two in 10th place. Session Three will open with the Semifinals at 10 a.m. (CST) which will webcast on NCAASports.com. Session Three will determine each weight classes' third through eighth places with the Championship Matches to be held this evening at 7:00 p.m. (CST).
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Session Three of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships opened this morning in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The 80 All-Americans began the morning session at 10 a.m. By the end of the session's action all but the twenty finalists had completed their run at this year's Championships. Sixty wrestlers finished their day in third through eighth place in each weight class. Nebraska-Kearney wrestled hard in Session Three and took the lead in the team race by a slim half point. UNK will have two shots at championships in tonight's final round. Minnesota State University, Mankato finished Session Three with 100 points and will have three shots at titles tonight. Nebraska-Omaha has taken over third place with 85.5 points and three finalists. Pitt Johnstown has racked up 83 points through three sessions and will have two shots at championships. Rounding out the top five is Adams State with 68.5 points. Western State and Central Oklahoma are close behind and will try to break into the top five with their two finalists each this evening. The Finals will begin with the Parade of All-Americans and then move into the action. Matches will begin at 125 pounds at 7:00 p.m. All ten finals matches will be webcast on NCAASports.com.
