Monica Gordy joins the Upper Iowa University softball staff after serving as a graduate assistant at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

While at Wayne State, Gordy helped to lead the Wildcats to their first winning season since 2002 and a 4th place tie with Upper Iowa. She worked with the infielders and catchers as well as working with the player's hitting. Under her guidance the Wildcats improved their homerun record from 13 to 30 in 2007.

Gordy was a standout softball player at Florida Institute of Technology from 2000-2004, where she named Most Valuable Player and Co-Captain as a senior in 2004. She led the team in hitting (.348) as a senior, ranking fourth all-time for single season average. Gordy also ranks third in career home runs and 10th in career RBI's at Florida Tech.

Prior to coaching at Wayne State, Gordy served as the hitting and defensive instructor for the Delmarva Rebels Elite Travel Team in Salisbury, Maryland (2004-06). Her responsibilities with the team included organizing and conducting practices, hitting and defensive instruction, fundraising, recruiting new players, tournament scheduling and monitoring players academically.

Gordy earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology in 2004.
