Peacocks Drop Pair of Games at NSIC Tournament
 
The Peacock softball team dropped two games at the 2008 NSIC tournament and has been eliminated. Upper Iowa entered the eight-team tourney with the #6 seed and lost to #3 Wayne State and #7 MSU Moorhead. The losses force a sudden end to the team's season. Upper Iowa was 12-31 overall this year and had an even 9-9 record in Northern Sun play, which was good for sixth place in the regular season. (MORE)

Two Peacocks Named to NSIC Softball All-Conference Teams
 
The Northern Sun Conference has named their Softball All-Conference Teams and two Peacocks have earned the honor. Nikki Davis (Lovington, Illinois) was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team, while Kami Appelt (Marysville, California) was named to the NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. (MORE)

Upper Iowa Announces Addition to 2008-09 Roster
Peacock Head Softball Coach Christina Missildine announced that Erin Van Praag, of Marion, Iowa, has committed to attend and compete at Upper Iowa University. Van Praag will join the Upper Iowa softball program in the fall of 2008. (MORE)

NSIC Women's Softball Tournament Pushed Back
St. Paul, Minn. - NSIC Commissioner Butch Raymond has announced that the 2008 NSIC Women's Softball Tournament has been pushed back a day due to poor weather predictions. The tournament, being hosted by Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn., has been changed from Friday/Saturday to a Saturday/Sunday as fairer weather conditions are predicted for those days. The first games will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the SMSU Softball Field and the Marshall Softball Complex. The 2008 NSIC Softball Tournament Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Softball North Central Regional. The NCAA Regional Tournament is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, May 8-11 at a campus site to be determined. (MORE)

Peacocks Lose Two Battles with the Mavericks
The Peacock softball team played their final two home games of the season on Tuesday afternoon. Upper Iowa welcomed the future, NSIC-foe Minnesota State for a non-conference double header. UIU fell behind 6-0 after the top half of the first inning, but scrathced their way back into the game slowly until Jackie Greco hit a three-run homer to left and pulled the home team within three runs, 8-5. The Peacocks weren't able to score any more runs in their final at bat and dropped game one. In game two, pitchers were in control throughout. The Mavericks scored one run in the fourth and it was enough to earn the game two victory, 1-0. (MORE)

Peacocks Drop Two in Weather Shortened Tournament
The Upper Iowa softball team played two games on Sunday in the weather-shortened tournament hosted by Minnesota State in Mankato, Minnesota. Snow on the field caused the five game tournament to be reduced to just two. The Peacocks fell in both games on Sunday; 3-1 to Missouri Western and 10-4 to North Dakota. (MORE)

Peacocks Drop Two Close Games Against NSIC-Leader Mustangs
The Peacocks hosted the NSIC-leader Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State in the final two regular season conference games for Upper Iowa. The game was originally scheduled for earlier in April, but some late winter weather did not allow the field at Eischeid Complex to be playable. While Upper Iowa was in the double header for their last two conference games, Southwest Minnesota State has one more NSIC double header to come after today. (MORE)

Peacocks Go 2-1 on Day One of NSIC Crossover #2
The Peacocks improved their record to 8-6 in the Northern Sun Conference this season. Upper Iowa's Nikki Davis threw 17.2 innings in registering a 2-1 record in her three appearances for UIU. She earned complete game victories in the Peacocks' two wins.

Erin Bennek hit a homerun in the Bemidji State game. Kami Appelt knocked the ball out of the park in the Northern State game, but the team committed four errors which allowed three unearned runs to score for Northern State. Stephany Daubenspeck knocked in both runs in the U-Mary game in support of the dominant Davis who only allowed two hits the whole game. (MORE)

Peacocks Split with Golden Bears in NSIC Double Header
After dropping game one 4-0, the Peacocks rallied in game two to earn the double header split. Upper Iowa was down to their last out in the seventh inning of game two trailing 4-3 with the bases empty. The Peacocks rallied for two runs and picked up a victory to earn the road split at Concordia-St. Paul. UIU improved their record to 9-21 overall and 6-5 in the NSIC. Upper Iowa is tied for fourth in the conference standings after today's games. (MORE)
