Kelsey Montgomery (So./Stewartville, Minn.) has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference's (NSIC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week. This honor is the eighteenth NSIC Player of the Week award earned by an Upper Iowa student-athlete this year and second by a Peacock tennis player. Montgomery won her doubles match and then picked up a singles win against Winona State to secure the conference victory 5-4. Montgomery teamed up with Betsy Limburg at #3 doubles to win 8-1 and then won the #4 singles match in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. The 2-0 conference start propels Upper Iowa into a first place tie with Southwest Minnesota State while dropping Winona State to 3-1 in league play. Montgomery and the Peacocks will head to McComb, Illinois to square off against Southeast Missouri State and, host school, Western Illinois on Saturday, Mar. 29, and then face UW-Milwaukee on Sunday, Mar. 30. The matches against SEMO and UW-Milwaukee are set for 9 a.m. and the Western Illinois match will begin at 3 p.m. |
